Mixing it up in Mexico – Kaushal and Vex’s Big Day

Mexico weddings abroad- Kaushal and Vex’s Big Day

When we often think of hindu destination weddings you may think small and intimate, but you don’t have to compromise on your big day and the events leading up to it. Youtuber Kaushal and mind coach Vex King’s beach wedding in Cancun is a prime example of this.

Their wedding at the Dreams Riviera Resort & Spa consisted of 6 gorgeous, vibrant and fun-filled events, both intimate and big, shared with their loved ones before their big day. From a fiesta inspired sangeet to a traditional ceremony held under a sacred Mayan tree, their wedding was full of exciting new ways to celebrate.

On the day of arrival, guests were welcomed with a drinks ceremony in the evening, the perfect way to greet all of your family and friends ahead of your special week. There was no time to rest with a full day ahead – in the morning, a gorgeous mehndi brunch.

The Mehndi Brunch

Kaushal’s twist on the traditional mehndi ceremony involved a brunch with her closest girls set up in one of the hotel’s suites. In their own private space, they danced and ate, keeping them busy whilst they got their mehndi done. In her blog post, Kaushal praised the resort for being “super accommodating” when it came to dietary requirements and vegetarian food throughout the week.Cancun even has a local mehndi company called Loto Mehndi, that Kaushal hired for her guests.

Fusion Fiesta Sangeet
As evening approached Kaushal, Vex and their guests got ready for a fun-filled fiesta! Embracing Mexican culture, the couple decided to fuse their sangeet with tasty Mexican food, vibrant decor and Spanish music all on the resort’s beach.

Despite a storm approaching, the hotel had catered for the party to be moved swiftly inside where they partied the night away on their perfect hindu wedding abroad.

Mandvo & Pithi, the Haldi ceremony
The couple created a new tradition and decided to have their Haldi ceremonytogether rather than apart which was set up in the ‘Chef’s Garden’ with a beautiful
breakfast spread.

The Pithi ceremony was held separately and despite being half way across the world Kaushal said the ceremony made her wedding ”beautifully real”.

The Wedding Ceremony
A legal ceremony took place in the morning with just the couples immediate family. The symbolic ceremony followed on the resort’s beach with a simple pastel and
acrylic theme.

The gorgeous deep blue sea and clear skies were the perfect view whilst Kaushal and Vex completed their 4 pheras to signify the foundations of their marriage.

Carrying on with their own take on traditions, Kaushal asked her mum to perform the Kanyadaan alone which is something usually performed by a couple.Continuing to mix it up in Mexico, here is Kaushal and Vex’s take on the vidai ceremony, a traditionally sad moment.

Sunset Dinner & Reception
Making the most of the view, the couple decided on a picturesque sunset dinner after their ceremony by the hotel’s infinity pool where they cut their cake surrounded by
their family.

To avoid rushing, the reception took place the following evening in the hotel’s stunning ballroom to keep that feeling of a beautiful big reception that you would
have at home.
