Will my wedding be legal?

Unless stated as a blessing, your wedding will be legal, and under British Law and you do not have to register it when you get back to the UK.

You must be 18 or over to book a wedding package with us.

Unless otherwise requested, we will offer you a civil wedding. We are also able to arrange religious weddings in certain locations, please ask our Wedding Specialists for more details.

Do you offer religious ceremonies?

Yes, some locations will allow religious ceremonies. You can visit the religious weddings section of our website for further details, and view some of our recommended locations or give us a call on 0121 752 9359.

Can I book the wedding-only, and arrange my travel separately?

Our wedding specialists will book the complete package for you therefore taking the stress out of the arrangements. We do not offer a wedding ceremony-only service.

How do you arrange the wedding?

Your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, so we want every detail to be perfect. We have recommended properties, however our service is completely tailored and personalised to the both of you, so if there’s something you want but we do not feature it, we will always be happy to explore this for you.

We prefer to speak with our couples over the phone or face to face initially to get a good understanding of your key requirements and vision for the day. Your dedicated Wedding Specialist will then be available via phone, email, face to face or WhatsApp for you throughout the process of initial enquiry until your return to the UK.

Once we have narrowed down to your preferred wedding location, we will request your wedding date, and can usually turn this around within 24-48 working hours. Once confirmed, we can book your travel arrangements and begin work on the finer details that will make your wedding day perfect.

What will the wedding package include?

Wedding packages will vary; however, a basic package will usually include your ceremony location, cake and sparkling wine toast for 8-10 guests, your wedding co-ordinator and a bouquet and buttonhole. There are many ways to tailor your wedding to ensure it’s everything you envisage. Your Wedding Specialist will be able to advise you of the packages and extras available to you.

How much does a wedding cost?

This depends on your chosen hotel. The average cost of a wedding including travel is around £5,000-£8,000. Some hotels offer basic free weddings, so please contact our Wedding Specialists to choose the venue that suits you.

What paperwork is needed?

Paperwork will vary by destination, and occasionally by venue. You can find our legal requirements by destination online, however our Wedding Specialists will run through everything with you during your initial consultation. We generally require photocopies of the documents at least 12 weeks prior to the departure date, and original copies will need to be taken with you to resort. Some destinations require your documents to be legalised, certified and/or translated, and the cost of this is varies depending on the requirements and the number of documents. Your Wedding Specialist will cover all of that in detail during your initial consultation.

What is the process on arrival in resort?

Your wedding plans will all be in place prior to departing the UK, however it will generally still be possible to make small tweaks on arrival, with your wedding coordinator. The hotel wedding coordinator will arrange a meeting with you, usually your first day in resort, and take you through the day’s proceedings, and check over any legal documentation. They will confirm any details you have booked and take you on a tour of the wedding locations of the venue. If you are required to complete any legalities in resort, the wedding coordinator will arrange transportation for you and where possible, will accompany you there. They can also assist in organising hair and makeup trials, pressing/steaming of wedding attire and organise any last minute details.

Do we need witnesses?

Yes. If you are not travelling with other wedding guests, you will need witnesses. These can be friends that you meet in resort or members of the hotel staff.

How long does the ceremony last?

Usually approximately 15-20 minutes, after which there is the signing of the register, a toast to the newlyweds and photographs (if booked).

How do I transport my wedding dress?

We suggest you pack it into a strong suitcase and check it in as luggage. We can also supply you with a Wedding Dress Travel Box. However, this will form part of your luggage allowance and is always subject to airline approval. Some airlines will allow you to carry your dress as hand-luggage, however this must be packaged in a suitable box that complies with the hand luggage dimensions of the airline. On arrival at your hotel it is best to hang it up in the bathroom to allow the creases to drop out. The hotels we feature will offer a steaming/pressing services for your wedding attire, payable locally unless otherwise stated.

If my guests stay elsewhere, can they attend our wedding?

If you are staying in an adult hotel it is unlikely that the hotel will allow children to attend the ceremony. If your hotel is not adults only then the hotel may charge for your guests to attend and there may be a limit to guest numbers. Please ask your Wedding Specialist for further details.

When will we receive our marriage certificate?

In most circumstances, you will receive your wedding certificate on the day of your wedding. However, the hotel may ask for a home address so that it can forwarded onto you. If you require additional copies, you will need to request these in resort, as you can no longer deposit them at the General Registry Office in the UK.

Where does the ceremony take place?

The majority of our venues will have multiple locations for your ceremony, ranging from beach to garden, to indoor locations. Your wedding specialist will be able to offer you further details about each location.

How far in advance can you confirm my wedding date?

In theory, we can book your wedding date and hold your hotel accommodation several years in advance. Your travel arrangements can then be finalised at least 11 months in advance.

Can I bring external suppliers into the hotel?

The hotels we feature have a great variety of preferred suppliers who they recommend and who know the venues very well. If you wish to bring in external suppliers, it is usually not a problem, however there may be additional fees to pay. Ask your Wedding Specialist for further details and we will be happy to assist.

Are hair and beauty services available?

Yes, you will be able to arrange hair and beauty in advance and we would recommend having a trial ahead of your wedding day.

Are there any hidden costs?

We will include as many of the overall costs as possible in your wedding package. If there are any charges such as judge and minister fees which are required to be paid locally, these will be made clear to you ahead of confirming your wedding.

Can we incorporate readings within our ceremony?

Yes, you will be able to in-corporate readings within your ceremony. These may need to be approved by the registrar depending on the type of ceremony you are having.

Will our ceremony be conducted in English?

English will be standard in many locations, others will require a translation service at an extra cost. Your Wedding Specialist will provide this information at the time of enquiry.

Is it likely that my wedding date will change once confirmed?

It is unlikely that your wedding date will be moved once confirmed, however this is a possibility including external factors such as weather. We would therefore recommend that you do not include your wedding date on personalised items just in case.

Will there be other weddings taking place at the same time?

Each hotel will operate differently, some destinations and hotels will operate a maximum of one wedding per day, whilst others may have several weddings in different locations throughout the day. All hotels will do their utmost to avoid any crossover of brides. Your Wedding Specialist will be able to provide you with more detail about this.

Can you arrange our Honeymoon if we want to travel on to another destination?

Yes, it’s a great idea to make the most of your location and stop-off somewhere else on the way home. We would be delighted to suggest some multi-centre itineraries for you.

What will happen if it rains?

Depending on availability, your hotel may offer for you to change the time or date of your wedding for a chance of better weather, or alternatively offer you an alternative venue indoors.

Will we be able to have separate rooms the evening before our wedding?

Several of our wedding packages offer this subject to availability. If you wish to guarantee this, we can look at a rate for a separate room the evening before the ‘I do’s’.

If we are staying on an all-inclusive board basis, will that cover our reception dinner?

You will be welcome to use your all-inclusive dinner, however special set-ups and locations may be at an additional cost depending on your requirements. If you have guests that are not resident at your wedding hotel, their meals and drinks will be chargeable. Please ask your Wedding Specialist for further details.

Will we receive a discount for booking a group?

It is uncommon that airlines will offer discounted group rate for travel, however if you have an idea of numbers at the time of enquiry, this is very helpful for us to be able to negotiate group discounts with your chosen hotel. Offers will vary hotel to hotel.

When will I receive my wedding photographs?

In some destinations, the photographers will deliver your photographs in resort. Other destinations will send your photographs to your home address once edited. Please ask your Wedding Specialist for further details.

Shall I travel in my maiden or married name?

You will need to travel in your maiden name, unless you have already legally married in the UK. Please note that passports will require a minimum of 6 months validity from the date of return to the UK.

How much notice is required to organise a wedding?

The earlier you can plan your wedding, the better as it gives you access to the best availability. If you’re looking for a spontaneous escape, that’s no problem – we will need a minimum of 12 weeks in the majority of instances to be able to process your paperwork.

How long do I need to be in resort before the wedding takes place?

This is called ‘residency’ and varies by destination. You can find out more about your chosen destination in our Legal Requirements section, or speak to your Wedding Specialist. Please note that residency days are usually working days, and do not include the day of arrival or public holidays.

Can we choose our own music for the ceremony?

Yes. Your Wedding Co-ordinator will advise in advance which format they need this provided in.

Can we get additional copies of our marriage certificate?

If you require additional copies, you will need to request these in resort, as you can no longer deposit them at the General Registry Office in the UK.

Can we have a same-sex wedding?

Yes. We feature a great range of destinations for your wedding including Mexico and South Africa. If there’s somewhere else you are thinking of that is not listed on our website, please ask your Wedding Specialist and we will be happy to help. We can also offer symbolic ceremonies in in Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Thailand.

Do we need insurance?

Yes, we recommend taking out travel insurance from the date you book to the date you return to the UK. Most insurance providers will have an add-on option to cover your wedding as well. Please note that Wedding insurance covers a problem with the venue or a supplier, or a key wedding party member falling ill. It does not cover a change of heart.
